Politik

It's hard to believe that I once posted to this site several times a day, or that I had about 200 people actually visit a day, or that I actually liked reading about politics. The bickering got too much for me, the irrational bumbling of rightwing idiots, and even some people who claimed to be on the left but had no clue why got on my nerves.

I'm still trying to understand why I stopped caring. Maybe it's because I don't want the selfish, rightwing, insecure, maniacal, hateful jerks to benefit from any change I see in the world, those people who would vote for Ted Nugent as Michigan governor, the guy that purposely made himself get diarrhea so he wouldn't be drafted during Vietnam but is the most vocal chickenhawk of them all, the guy who advocates killing all Muslims and poor people.

I have no candidates I'm rooting for in November, just a change in parties. There are no Deans to get me pumped about the possibility that maybe people can actually rule the country rather than politicians.

I'm sick of evangelical crackheads most of all, who wouldn't know Christianity if Christ himself came up and slapped them on the heads. The pathetic article in the USA Today about how the Colorado Rockies think that God is making them win is just sickening. How self-centered do you have to be to think there is some divine force making you win a GAME when people across the globe are dying in wars and of disease and starvation? It's sick. I hope these crackheads break their legs and come in last place. They now go on my least favorite teams list just for their nonsensical superstitious bullshit.

More evidence that the UK is the 51st state of the US

"Assuming that we can find them, and assuming that people aren't going away of their own accord, it would take some time."

-- U.K. immigration minister Tony McNulty, estimating that it could take 10 years to deport all the illegal immigrants living in the country. Speaking to the BBC, he said 310,000 to 570,000 was "roughly in the ball park" of how many illegal immigrants were in the United Kingdom. Earlier Prime Minister Tony Blair had come under fire after saying there were no official figure estimates of illegal immigrants. Heated debate was originally sparked by the news that 1,023 foreign prisoners were released without being considered for deportation. Blair has said "there will be an automatic presumption now to deport - and the vast bulk of those people will be deported." They should not be able to claim their home country was too unsafe generally, Blair said, pointing out people were being deported to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Righties - if you still can't understand the left's problem with corporations, read on

Giant Wal-Mart to rural landowners: Sell or else

Wal-Mart is trying to use eminent domain to steal land from its owners around a new store in Florida.
A letter to the landowners gave them until 5 p.m. Thursday to agree to a deal with the company.
A corporation has absolutely NO right to take land from people or demand they give it up. Given Wal-Mart's demonic track record, this case will no doubt get a lot of attention across the country, and hopefully lawyers will help out these people so they aren't bullied into selling their land.

While all of you righties whine about government, corporations are acting like they are the government, and you just let them. If you are still too dense to see what's going on, please, do not wake up tomorrow morning.

Corporatism is a major element in fascism. Learn your history.

Righties proven wrong - AGAIN

Oh my! Look at this! You mean to tell me it's basics, not luxuries, which are driving Americans into debt? I guess those righties are wrong! Could it be that poor people and debtors are poor and in debt because they just aren't making enough to live on? OMG! Wow, what a shocking revelation! [/sarc]
Why are Americans so deeply in debt? It's not because they are using credit cards to buy plasma TVs and premium coffee drinks at Starbucks. The real culprits, according to a new analysis, are the rising costs of housing, health care and education.
Someone cut the bootstraps a long time ago.

Of course, as always, the study is "biased" because it wasn't conducted by a rightwing "think" tank.

Big Brother IS watching

Don't think "it can't happen to me, I'm doing nothing wrong." It is happening to tens of millions of ordinary Americans.
The National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth, people with direct knowledge of the arrangement told USA TODAY.

The NSA program reaches into homes and businesses across the nation by amassing information about the calls of ordinary Americans - most of whom aren't suspected of any crime.
So you righty morons who keep saying it isn't happening, GET A CLUE.

Kudos to Qwest, a true American company, for being the only telecommunications company to refuse to give up its records to No Such Agency. If I could use your service, I would. Just don't cave in. We need more companies with principles.

On Fearmongering

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." ~ Frankin D. Roosevelt

Ours is a culture of fear. We have people all over telling us boogeymen are out to get us. Everything causes cancer, red meat causes heart attacks, terrorists are waiting on every corner to blow us up, immigrants take our jobs, the sun will kill us, our kids will die if they ride bikes without helmets, thieves will steal our property if we don't live in gated communities... GET A GRIP!

Now, Volkswagon is cashing in on our culture of fear by showing ads with actual car crashes. Life is tough enough. We don't need the stress of seeing these accidents. You want to be safe from an accident? Why not take a refresher driving course? An alert and aware driver can avoid accidents, which is far better than buying a car that reduces the impact of accidents. Get off your cell phone! Stop messing around with the radio! THAT is safety.

My God, people! Get a life! You only have seventy odd years on this Earth if you're lucky. Quit living in fear of everything and everyone!

And yes, we should fear the fear itself. It's making people forget to enjoy life.

What a loser

BERLIN (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush told a German newspaper his best moment in more than five years in office was catching a big perch in his own lake.

"You know, I've experienced many great moments and it's hard to name the best," Bush told weekly Bild am Sonntag when asked about his high point since becoming president in January 2001.

"I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound (3.402 kilos) perch in my lake," he told the newspaper in an interview published on Sunday.

Bush said the worst moment was September 11 when hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.

"In such a situation it takes a while before one understands what is happening," Bush said. "I would say that this was the hardest moment, once I had the real picture before my eyes."

Because Bild could not immediately furnish English quotes, Bush's comments were translated from the German. The paper said the White House planned to release an authorised English version of the interview on Monday.
