Support your local business establishments!

One of the few drawbacks of going to a Nats game is the lack of pre- and post-game watering holes around the stadium, which forces us to buy more $5 beers at RFK. To reduce the burden of having to succumb to corporate greed at the ballpark, go for a pre-game happy hour at establishments along the blue/orange line. The Washington Post has a great "going out guide" complete with an interactive map of the establishments. You can just ride into Capitol South or Eastern Market from work, hop off for a bit, and then hop back on to go to the game.

    Isn't RFK run by the DC government?

    Wouldn't that make the $5 beer government greed vs. corporate greed?

    Aramark is the corporation that charges such prices. The city is not running the food department, they just contract it out. None of the beer money goes to the city.

    do you not support small businesses? i know many gops do not. they only support the big corps who give them money. that is why they passed the bankruptcy bill.

    Aramark is a city contractor. The government "really should do something" about this problem. Aramark is charging what the city will allow.

    I support little, small, medium, big businesses. As a show of support, why don't you agree to a tax break for businesses who employ people?

    Not sure on the GOP stance, since I am not one of them.

    The city had little choice. They had three months to pull together a whole baseball season, since Linda Crapp nearly derailed the deal at the end of December.

    Aramark does about 30 sports teams throughout the region. The city had no time to find another company. Aramark is a corporation that royally rips people off. I would avoid them, but they have a virtual monopoly on the food service at this time, with the exception of the one foggy bottom beer stand. The team is working on getting some more vendors to come in, but right now, there's slim pickins'.
