The defeat of a good man

Thinking back to the days when people actually were tired of war...

I was in Belfast the day that peace treaty was signed. Instead of jubilation, the streets were quiet. At the time, I thought that people just didn't understand what was happening. Now I wonder if the silence meant something else.

It's been seven years of relative peace with a few notable excepts, including Omagh. The police are no longer strictly Protestants. Belfast has enjoyed an economic boom that makes it seem like a real city, not a war torn stomping ground for bullies and terrorists.

Trimble had his work cut out for him. Has he failed? Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams were the top vote getters. They bring nothing but hatred to the table of peace.

Over the last century, the IRA has degenerated into a bunch of thugs and criminals. Michael Collins must be rolling in his grave. The "Democratic" Unionists are not any better.

Good luck to the people in the North. I pray God lets your relative peace continue. And if He does not, I hope the government sends your terrorist thugs down to Iraq to fight against the other terrorist thugs down there. Maybe they can blow each other up.

Oh, and one other thing, people of the North. I don't want to hear any more b.s. about Americans electing Bush. The terrorists you re-elected have as much blood on their hands.

so, you support others voting terrorists into power and peacemakers out? then, why do you not support the insurgency in iraq?
